There are these cool lofts by the Staples Center. They look so swanky and trendy, like a place that all the ladies from Sex and the City would live. The only trouble with them is that at night, there are these flashing neon lights that illuminate it. HOW ANNOYING! Can you imagine trying to sleep with flashing lights right outside your window? YIKES!
Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow February 28, 2008
So, I don’t LOVE Paula Abdul, but there is something about this song that makes me want to literally dance like there’s no tomorrow. I love dancing, I just wish I got to do it a little more often. Luckily my adorable karaoke buddy loves dancing while people are singing. So, I get a little in when we go.
Maybe I’ll get to dance on Saturday night when we are out with our friends.
Faith February 12, 2008
I finally made it to karaoke. It was awesome, despite starting an hour late due to technical problems. I sang two new songs, but I think the best part of the whole night was when I sang Faith, by George Michael. It was brilliant, and everyone was up dancing. I got hi 5’s from strangers. I also sang I Love the Nightlife by Alicia Bridges, and that was also fantastic and fun. So, Sunday was one of those nights that reminds me why I find Karaoke more therapeutic than any couch session with a therapist.

Valentine February 8, 2008
I have no problems with plastic surgery; however, I have never had nor do I plan to ever have any done. I think there are legitimate reasons to have it done, especially for people who only want it for themselves.
There is this completely obnoxious commercial for this surgeon in the area, Dr. New Me. It took me about a month to figure out what they were saying when they sing that. Anyway, they are currently advertising their Valentine’s Day specials. So in a nutshell, what they are saying is that women should be getting larger breasts and tummy tucks for their sweeties. Or, maybe the guys should give that to their ladies. In my opinion, if anyone ever got plastic surgery to stay with someone, they really need to do a lot of soul searching and realize that this person really does not truly love them.
I will try to gracefully dismount from the soapbox.
Jailhouse Rock February 5, 2008
Inmates can vote? This concept perplexes me. I don’t have much to say about it really…I just CANNOT believe that we let incarcerated people rock the vote. Well, I guess we let them watch American Idol, pump iron, and read legal books to help them with their appeals so maybe my confusion is unfounded. I still just don’t get it.

P.S. I am going to stop blogging before I go to karaoke, because that seems to jinx it.
Don’t Fear the Reaper January 31, 2008
Karaoke night, take two. So, I love singing Don’t Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult. But, I have to have a cowbell to do it. There are so many songs that utilize the cowbell if you just listen. Missing, by Everything but the Girl also has cowbell. I have really liked this song for a long time, and never realized it had the remarkable influence of the cowbell until this week.

Tonight I will be singing some new songs. Possibly Total Eclipse of the Heart, Crazy on You, I Love the Nightlife…the possibilities are endless. I am sooooo looking forward to it.
Madonna January 27, 2008
It’s been raining off and on for the last week. I LOVE the rain, but it can make things like going to the market a little bothersome. Especially when it only pours when you are entering and exiting the store. I probably won’t be going to Karaoke tonight. There are two reasons, but the primary reason is that people here in SoCali seem to forget how to drive when it rains. This is not to say that they knew how to drive to begin with, but they seem to lose all sanity when the roads are wet. It has also been windy. This is another little weather condition that causes the locals to lose their brains.
The Right Stuff January 26, 2008
Just when I thought the world was going to hell, I got some fantastic news. The New Kids on the Block are BACK TOGETHER!!! I was never a fan of them when I was younger. I think it was because one of them had a rat-tail? I cannot figure out what the appeal of that little hair trend was, but hopefully they don’t have them anymore.

Incedentally, they are one of my favorite artists to cover at karaoke. I love singing Please Don’t Go Girl and The Right Stuff. I think I just may do a salute to their reunion tomorrow night when I go. :)
Damn it Feels Good to be a Gangster January 25, 2008
I just saw SuperBad on Wednesday night. It was pretty funny. So, I see this McLovin t-shirt link on my email and I click on it to find this site full of funny shirts. The part I found most hilarious is that for the women’s shirts, they add breasts to the two dimensional image, like the shirt below. Just thought I’d share…
BTW…this song was in Office Space. I love that movie too.
Jagged Little Pill January 20, 2008

After watching a prescription drug commercial, have you ever sat and wondered whether the side effects were worse than the condition the drug was meant to cure? I do all the time. Today, for instance, I was sorting through the laundry while the TV was on, and they say…”if you experience increased sexual urges or urges to gamble, please contact your doctor immediately.” Other horrible side effects they talk about? Hair loss, dizziness, vomiting, breast tenderness or swelling (FOR MEN), etc. However, my ultimate favorite is when they are advertising sleeping medication and they say that it may cause drowsiness. WHAT??? Te VERAS? (That’s the equivalent of seriously in Spanish). I suppose they are legally required to say this, but it just cracks me up.
